Learning from Our Community at Hang Dong Municipality

making krathong

It was our pleasure to learn from our respected seniors in the local community. On Tuesday, 7th October 2025, our Year 9 students visited the Division of Older Persons Welfare Promotion and Rights Protection (ศูนย์พัฒนาคุณภาพชีวิต และส่งเสริมอาชีพผู้สูงอายุ) at the Hang Dong Subdistrict Municipality (often referred to as the Hang Dong Municipality) to engage in an inspiring hands-on learning experience.

During the visit, students had the opportunity to interview local elders and learn the traditional art of making Krathongs, gaining valuable insights into the cultural wisdom and craftsmanship passed down through generations.

This activity was part of their survey project, “Values for the Future,” where students explored how knowledge and traditions from the past can guide us in shaping a better future. Through meaningful conversations with community members who have witnessed Chiang Mai’s growth and transformation, our learners reflected on the importance of values, sustainability, and cultural preservation.

At Meritton British International School, we believe that connecting with the community helps our students grow into compassionate, thoughtful, and responsible global citizens.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who generously shared their time, thoughts, and experiences. Your voices have given our students invaluable lessons in empathy, communication, and real-world learning.
